MUMPS System Development and Business Process Reengineering

DUII has had more than ten years’ development experience in MUMPS, FileMan and Health Level 7 (HL7) protocol. DUII has been involved in several public projects, including:

    • The Automated Quality of Care Evaluation Support System (AQCESS), the Department of Defense (DoD) interim solution to provide an automated hospital information system capability;
    • PRIMAQ, an automated ambulatory care and physician’s office practice management system;
    • The Composite Health Care System (CHCS) that had conversion of AQCESS, Patient Administration, Medical Systems Accounting, Third Party Collections, Managed Care Program, Patient Appointment and Scheduling and Quality Assurance.

DUII is proficient at Business Process Reengineering (BPR) on MUMPS legacy systems. DUII designed reversing mechanisms to translate the hierarchical database of MUMPS to the traditional relational database; from traditional relational database to post-relational database; from post-relational database to object-relational database. DUII then use modern software methodology, including Shlaer-Mellor, Rumbaugh/Object Modeling Technique (OMT) and Objectory/Unified Modeling Language (UML), to forward engineer the legacy systems.

DUII has implemented MUMPS Year 2000 (Y2K) compliance on many mission critical systems. The scope includes FileMan, MUMPS programming languages with upgrade from its vendors, user interface, reports, forms and MUMPS applications itself.
