Data Unlimited International, Inc., Maryland, USA - February 13, 2007 - The Crime Laboratory Division of the Baltimore City Police Department lead by Edgar F. Koch, the Laboratory Director, accredited by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors – Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) in December 2006.

ASCLD/LAB inspectors conducted on–site review of the crime laboratory’s standard operating procedures, documentation, qualifications of laboratory staff, and the equipment used to test samples. The accreditation from ASCLD/LAB is another testament to the scientifically sound forensic investigation provided by the crime laboratory.
The crime lab’s proven quality of the laboratory efficient operation, fast record management, and reliable data through the use of approved methods and procedures continues benefiting everyone in Baltimore City with more than 700,000 populations. The city crime rate has been decreased by 40.6% comparing year 1999 to 2005.

The Crime Laboratory Division of the Baltimore City Police Department is one of the 327 crime laboratories accredited by ASCLD/LAB as of January 29, 2007.
