(DUII) after DUII filed the Allegation of Use ( Statement of Use) as soon as DUII delivered the commercial use.  United States Patent and Trademark Office issued the Certificate of Registration on September 2, 2003. Starfruit GeneTell is Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software and database to track DNA analysis and to report genotype results for clinical genetic testing laboratories to aim at patient care.

With the new technologies for molecular diagnosis, medical technicians, clinicians, and laboratory analysts are now challenged with providing genetic testing to their patients or clients. While some outsource to reference laboratories, many are building some of these assays into the clinical laboratories targeting at improving reporting mechanism with the ultimate goal of providing accurate and effective patient care.  While most medium to high-complexity clinical laboratories possess the expertise to perform these assays, many lack the access to expert interpretation and the ability to advise the ordering clients such as physicians.

The ability to cross-reference data from other family members is often a critical component in the diagnosis of inherited disease. Starfruit GeneTell tracks DNA extraction, plate working records, PCR tray map, gel loading, and allelic data typing. Starfruit GeneTell supports a full range of DNA and Cytogenetic tests. ICD9 and indication are connected to identify diagnosis and prescribe procedures. Starfruit GeneTell merges genotypes and automates DNA interpretation into patient care reports that covers therapeutic value and CPT codes for optimal reimbursement and extra detail for insurers in the event that additional information is required for reimbursement.

DUII views Starfruit GeneTell as a way to expand the genetic testing to benefit the patients and patient-care communities by making information from genetic tests relevant and available to physicians in near real time.
