ASCLD/LAB® Gave Permission to Data Unlimited International, Inc.

Data Unlimited International, Inc. (DUII), Maryland, USA –August 9, 2002– American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board (ASCLD/LAB) gave permission for DUII to use the ASCLD/LAB® acronym on advertisements and education material. This non-exclusive internationally informational and commercial use is one-year term with renewal rights. This permission granted DUII's rights to use the trademark in connection with marketing Starfruit CrimeLab™. National Institute of Justice (NIJ) estimated that there were more than 500,000 backlog of DNA samples along national wide, not to mention other types of samples. NIJ further estimated that these DNA backlog would require $25 million and more than five years for laboratories to analyze while 26% of crime laboratories in this country lacks the basic Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMSs) according to ASCLD News. While our nation faces increasing case backlog, DUII cannot advocate enough the significance of laboratory quality assurance/control as well as laboratory throughput. DUII has executed two strategies to assist our national criminal justice system:
