Medical Examiners can Submit Requests for Lab Test and Receive Results with One Click

Data Unlimited International, Inc. (DUII), Maryland, USA –June 26, 2002– DUII proudly announced its strategic alliance with Quincy Technologies, Inc. (QT), Acworth, GA, to automate forensic pathologists’ requests for laboratory examination and electronic dissemination of test results.

According to ‘Survey of DNA Crime Laboratories, 2001’ NCJ 191191 published by U.S. Department of Justice, 48% of DNA case samples were submitted by medical examiners to crime laboratories in 2000. For most of the DNA crime laboratories, about 47% were also responsible for toxicology examination. Majority of these medical examiners’ offices and crime laboratories have relied on paper-based operation to overcome the weighty caseload diligently.

QT/DUII strategic alliance made possible the integration between two state-of-the-art systems, CaseManager™ and Starfruit CrimeLab™, creating the first true Case and Laboratory Information Management System (CLIMS) to automate the data communication including submitting evidence/request for lab examination and distributing test results between medical examiners’ offices and crime laboratories. The solution is one-stop turnkey system that is aimed at providing tracking evidence movement and casework data sharing at the speed of electronics. The ultimate goal is to transmit test results so efficiently that the national caseload can be eliminated.

The combination of Quincy Technologies, Inc. and Data Unlimited International, Inc. also joins worth of computer engineering, biology, and forensic science expertise that is available to our customers.
