Taiwan Government Approved the Trademark: Starfruit DNA

Data Unlimited International, Inc. (DUII), Maryland, USA –April 15, 2002– DUII has successfully obtained the  approved trademark registration for the mark, Starfruit DNA, registration number 01004234 and application number 090801185.  Obtaining trademark registration represented DUII's effort to protect intellectual property and advanced DUII's marketing strategy to introduce Starfruit DNA® to Asian market.

Starfruit DNA® (US Applied Patent Number: 09/754,425 and 09/852,452) is a Windows NT/2000 client server distributed application. Starfruit DNA® is a key technology improvement offering an advantage over existing traditional LIMSs by providing features including security, inventory control, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) engine, and electronic case folder.  Security is provided using smart card technology to authenticate and to sign electronically.  Inventory control is to trace the distribution and quality control of primers, reagents, instruments, etc.  SOP engine is to construct and monitor the workflow of laboratory analysis.  Electronic case folder is the capability of aggregating laboratory data based on cases or projects. It was time to transform LIMS from simple record management system to the sophisticated quality assurance system.

Because of the flexibility of SOP-driven workflow design, DUII has used Starfruit DNA® as System Development Kit (SDK) to customize to meet specific clients' needs.  Parties that are interested in distributing Starfruit DNA or using this SDK to develop new LIMSs may contact DUII.
